On 15 and 16 October, TRIETHNÉS FESTIVAL returns to the airwaves of ERT’s Third Programme, bringing listeners two exceptional musical moments from this year’s festival in Prespa.
As part of its collaboration with ERT’s Third Programme, TRIETHNÉS FESTIVAL recorded two concerts from this year’s programme, with the aim of broadcasting them on national radio and preserving them as part of the festival’s digital archive. The recordings will also be available on the ERT Echo digital platform for a limited period following their radio broadcast, allowing audiences to discover or revisit these unique musical experiences.
The two concerts reflect the multifaceted artistic identity of TRIETHNÉS FESTIVAL, highlighting encounters between different musical traditions, cultures, and contemporary forms of artistic expression.
Paulo Álvares / Vlach Polyphony
A remarkable musical encounter between internationally acclaimed Brazilian pianist Paulo Álvares and the Vlach polyphonic ensemble Fraserotes, comprising Lefter Pulica, Achillea Nasi, Spiro Bello, Spiro Gramozi, Dionysi Michalari, and Dimitri Diso—six prominent figures in Vlach polyphony and the traditional music of southern Albania.
The concert brought together two distinct musical worlds, creating a dialogue between the living traditions of Vlach and Albanian polyphony and contemporary musical improvisation.
Under the Moonlight / A Pierrot
A distinctive interpretation of Arnold Schönberg’s iconic Pierrot Lunaire, reimagining the work’s performance identity through the introduction of a baritone in the role of Pierrot.
The title role is performed by internationally acclaimed baritone Georgios Iatrou, accompanied by a five-member ensemble of distinguished musicians with international careers. The performance is conducted by Yorgos Ziavras.
This recording is of particular significance, as it represents the only documented recording worldwide of the work performed with a baritone in the role of Pierrot, creating an important audio document for contemporary musical interpretation.
Prespa on the Airwaves of Greek Public Radio
Both broadcasts will be accompanied by interviews with the festival’s artists and contributors, offering listeners an opportunity to discover the musicians, creative processes, and artistic ideas behind the performances.
The collaboration with ERT marks another step in TRIETHNÉS FESTIVAL’s ongoing commitment to broadening access to artistic creation beyond the geographical boundaries of the Prespa region.
At the same time, the digital preservation of these concerts contributes to documenting and showcasing the festival’s artistic work, ensuring that significant musical encounters remain accessible beyond the live performances themselves.
