Everything you need to know to apply to the Visual Arts Open Call of the 2nd TRIETHNÉS FESTIVAL
About the Call
“Agios Achilleios – Edge of the Beginning” is a site-specific art installation project unfolding on the island of Agios Achilleios in Prespa, Greece, as part of the TRIETHNÉS International Music Festival.
Set within a unique tri-border landscape, the project invites multidisciplinary artists to engage with the island as both a physical and symbolic space of return, transition, and cyclical time. Through a curated walking route across the island, visitors encounter a series of artistic interventions that unfold as a narrative journey—one that blurs the boundaries between beginning and end.
Responding to the 2026 festival theme “Back to the Beginning”, the project explores return not as repetition, but as transformation. Memory, movement, and cultural exchange are embedded into the landscape, inviting audiences into an embodied, multisensory experience shaped by nature, history, and contemporary artistic practice.
The walk culminates at the historic Basilica of Saint Achilleios, where a sound installation commissioned from Chilean composer Pablo Garreton reframes the journey—functioning simultaneously as a conclusion and a new point of departure.
