Introducing the Visual Identity of TRIETHNÉS International Music Festival
We are proud to introduce the visual identity and logo of the TRIETHNÉS International Music Festival, marking the first edition of this unique cultural gathering in the region of Prespes, Greece — a place of rich heritage, natural wonder, and geopolitical significance.
The name "TRIETHNÉS", derived from the Greek word for “three nations,” reflects the spirit of this borderland where Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia meet. The festival is born from this convergence — a musical and cultural dialogue that transcends borders and celebrates shared memory, nature, and artistic expression.
The festival’s logo is a visual metaphor for this coming together. Composed of three bold, flowing shapes, the design captures the essence of the tri-national region and the twin lakes of Prespes — Mikri and Megali Prespa — which have long served as both a geographical and symbolic mirror for unity. The two larger shapes represent the lakes themselves, expansive and embracing. The third, smaller form completes the composition by subtly evoking the silhouette of a pelican — a direct reference to the endangered Dalmatian pelican, a native species to the Prespes wetlands. More than just a visual element, this abstract bird symbolizes the festival’s profound connection to nature, its commitment to environmental respect, and the harmony that can emerge when diverse cultures come together in shared celebration.
One of the most distinctive aspects of TRIETHNÉS’ identity is its evolving use of color. Each year, the shapes will shift hues, inspired by the thematic focus of the festival’s artistic programming. For this inaugural edition, the theme is “Memory” — a journey into the collective and personal histories of the region, a meditation on what once was, and an invitation to reimagine what can be.
This year’s color palette carries the emotional and philosophical weight of that theme. Royal purple speaks to dignity and legacy, capturing the spiritual depth of the region’s past and the sacred quiet of the lakes at dusk. Vibrant red pulses with vitality and passion, evoking the intensity of memory, the energy of remembrance, and the emotional resonance of music as a vessel for the past. Golden yellow offers a note of hope — the color of morning light over the mountains, of renewal, and of the future illuminated by understanding the past. It is also the color of the sun and the land, symbolizing continuity and rebirth.
TRIETHNÉS is more than a music festival. It is a living, breathing ritual of cultural encounter, an artistic response to place, memory, and ecology. In this remote and beautiful corner of the world, where birds migrate, waters reflect, and borders dissolve, the festival creates a space where history is not forgotten — it is heard, sung, and felt anew.
This is the beginning of an evolving tradition. With each passing year, as themes shift and colors change, the identity of TRIETHNÉS will continue to grow — just like contemporary music at it’s core.
The logo and visual identity was designed by Talou Galanou on commission by TRIETHNÉS International Music Festival.
